St Nick's is a young Anglican evangelical church in the heart of the City of London. We are looking for a junior Men's Worker to join our team in a 3 year training position, starting in summer 2024, as we launch a second Sunday service.

Responsibilities

The Men's Worker will be a junior member of staff who will be trained in different aspects of ministry, which could include further theological studies on the Cornhill Training Course. They will be involved in Bible-teaching ministry to those working in the City through our midweek lunchtime talks and also those who attend our Sunday services at St Nick's. They will also have additional administrative responsibilities linked to these public meetings. There is scope for further role development in other areas of personal interest, e.g. music, evangelism, internationals etc. Ministry to men: - Evangelism, discipleship and training of men: working with individuals and groups, with the aim of reaching and building up gospel partners. - Help to lead Christianity Explored and disciple men attending them afterwards. - Read the Bible with 4-6 men on a weekly / fortnightly basis with the aim of equipping them to be missionaries in their workplaces and to love and serve Jesus and his people. - Meet with 2-3 different men each week (e.g. a new contact at a lunchtime talk / Sunday service, follow-up from CE, or a member of Partnership groups). - Promote the Christian faith to the general public. Midweek City ministry: - Oversee a lunchtime talk: lead meetings, decide notices etc. (dependent on experience). - Maintain contact database for a lunchtime talk. - Communicate with partners and newcomers for a lunchtime talk. - Lead a weekly Partnership group of midweek gospel partners. - Lead and preach at midweek lunchtime talks (frequency according to experience). - Partner in and promote the wider Gospel at Work network. Sunday ministry: - Organise and lead some administrative tasks associated with Sunday services. - Lead and preach at Sunday services (frequency according to experience). - Lead a Wednesday Small Group Bible study and deliver training and prayer slots. - Attend and help organise fortnightly service planning meetings. Ministry admin: - Assist with setup, running and clear up of public meetings. - Assist in the administration and practical tasks associated with ministry events. - Initiate regular contact with mission partners for prayer updates. - Assist in the organisation of mission weeks.

Required skills

Skills & attributes: - A love for God's people and the lost and a desire to serve them well with the gospel (1 Pet 3:15). - A love for God's word and confidence that it is sufficient for salvation and the means by which God does his work (2 Tim 3:16-17). - An ability to teach the Bible and train others to teach the Bible (2 Tim 2:2, 15). - A keen desire to serve City workers with the gospel and to encourage and equip Christian men and women in the City to make disciples in their workplaces (2 Cor 4:1-6; Eph 4:11-16; Mat 28:18-20). - Attention to detail, with strong planning and organisational skills. - Ability to work unsupervised, as well as part of a team. - Ability to give clear instructions, and instruct others. - Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in written and spoken English. - Computer literacy and ability to learn new skills. Christian character: - A love of God through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit. - A growing knowledge of God through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and obedience to His word. - Godliness in line with the Bible: adorning the gospel in godly conduct, being gentle and showing perfect courtesy to all people and zealous for good works (Titus 2-3). - Servant-hearted attitude in line with Scripture, sensitive to others' concerns.

Other

The Men's Worker must be able to represent the mission and values of St Nick's in all aspects of the role and there is therefore an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a committed evangelical Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010. Conditional offers will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
