St Nick's Church (EC4V 4BJ)
Date posted: 15th September 2023
Application ends: 22nd September 2023
This role is vital for making ministry happen and all aspects of the job enable the proclamation of the gospel in the City by supporting the ministry structures that exist to teach God's word. It's an exciting work to serve!
St Nick's is a young Anglican evangelical church in the heart of the City of London. We're small, but we've got a big and exciting ministry! We exist to know Jesus and to make him known in the City, and seek to reach the 500,000 workers on our doorstep with the gospel. We launched our Sunday morning service with 20 people in 2016 and have grown to over 100 adults and 15 children in the last 7 years. We are working towards launching a new Sunday evening service in September 2024! We are passionate about training and growing our church family in Christian maturity and so we run weekly Small Group Bible studies, three weekends away a year, evangelistic events, a Word Ministry Training programme, Christianity Explored (CE) courses, a women's Bible study group and one-to-one Bible studies. There's a lot going on! Midweek, we run four lunchtime ministries across central London; the London Bridge Talks, Fleet Street Talks, Victoria Talks and St Nick's Talks, which have been running for between 18 months and 26 years! Christians are encouraged to join us each week: to stand with the gospel, to bring colleagues to hear the gospel, to grow as the Bible is taught, and to be equipped and encouraged to speak the gospel in their offices and beyond. We also run Partnership groups, CE, evangelism training, one-to-one Bible studies and evangelistic events for our midweek congregations. We are looking for someone to join our team to provide administrative support across the different lunchtime talks and Sunday ministry - including children's work admin. The role is part-time, 12 hours per week, with some fixed requirements in the office on Tuesday mornings, Wednesday mornings and Friday afternoons, but with flexibility for other aspects of the role to be done remotely. The post-holder will be a valuable, core member of the staff team and their role is vital for making ministry happen. All aspects of the job description directly or indirectly enable the proclamation of the gospel in the City by supporting the ministry structures that exist to teach God's word. It's an exciting work to serve! Core responsibilities: - Produce handouts for lunchtime talks and Sunday services - Maintain websites with upcoming talks and events - Edit and upload talk recordings and online resources - Prepare song slides and schedule livestream for Sunday services - Monitor emails and respond to general enquiries - Send weekly 'Coming Up' bulletins to each ministry mailing list - Coordinate Sunday service plans and communicate details with serving teams - Assist in coordinating evangelistic events, weekends away and carol services - Develop a social media strategy for Sundays and post regular engaging content - Prepare activities for Sunday School according to the curriculum each week - Produce termly Sunday School teaching materials with support from the Associate Minister - Coordinate safe recruitment of new children's work volunteers, including DBS checks - Assist the wider staff team with other administrative tasks as required
Skills & attributes: - Minimum of two years of previous employment - Office or administrative experience - Organisational skills, including ability to prioritise tasks - Problem solving skills and ability to use initiative - Research skills and ability to analyse material and extract useful information - Attention to detail - Ability to work unsupervised as well as part of a team - Fluent in written and spoken English - Ability to communicate clearly - Computer literacy and ability to learn new skills Christian character: - A love of God through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit - A growing knowledge of God through Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit and obedience to His word - Godliness in line with the Bible: adorning the gospel in godly conduct, being gentle and showing perfect courtesy to all people and zealous for good works (Titus 2-3) - A heart for the mission of St Nick's Church and lunchtime ministries It is important that the post holder is able to represent the mission and values of St Nick's in all aspects of the role and there is therefore an occupational requirement to be a committed Christian, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010. We'd love for the post-holder to really partner in the ministry we're part of and therefore to join our Sunday church family if possible.
