St Silas is a growing evangelical church in Glasgow's West End. We are seeking Ministry Trainees to start in September 2026, combining local church ministry with formal training through Cornhill Scotland.
Serve the local church while growing in Christian maturity and ministry skills. Key areas: — Word ministry: Bible handling and teaching opportunities — Formal training: attend Cornhill Scotland two days/week during term — Practical service: administrative and communication tasks — Team life: weekly staff meetings and shared life with the staff team Within the role there is scope to focus on one or more of the following ministries (depending on gifting and need): student ministry; international students; children; youth; 20s & 30s; pastoral care.
We are looking for candidates who: — Love the Lord Jesus and desire to grow in faith and maturity — Wholeheartedly agree with our doctrinal basis — Are enthusiastic about church family life and the spiritual growth of others — Communicate clearly and graciously in a variety of settings — Are hardworking, ready for challenge, and eager to learn
This traineeship is suitable both for recent graduates exploring a call to gospel ministry and for more mature applicants considering a change of direction into Christian service. It offers a supportive environment in which to test and develop gifts within the life of a local church.
