Ministry Trainee

St Silas is a growing evangelical church in the heart of Glasgow's west end. We're seeking the right candidates to join our team as Ministry Trainees, to begin in September 2025. Formal training is provided by Cornhill Scotland.

Responsibilities

The primary aim of the trainees is to serve the local church, growing in Christian maturity and being equipped in ministry experience. - There will be training and opportunities in Word ministry - Trainees attend the Cornhill Training Course, or equivalent (as agreed) which runs 2 days each week during school term-time. - Within the role there is scope for focussing on one or more of the following ministry areas: Student ministry; International student ministry; Children; Youth (secondary school age); 20s & 30s; Pastoral care & visiting - Trainees serve with practical, administrative, and communicative tasks - Trainees will attend weekly staff meetings and be part our staff team as we aim to serve together and share our lives together.

Required skills

We are looking for: - Godly Christians who know and love the Lord Jesus and have a continuing desire to grow in their personal walk with Him. - Wholehearted agreement with our doctrinal basis. - Enthusiasm and passion for Church family and the spiritual growth of others. - Strong communication skills in a variety of situations. - Willingness to work hard, being ready for a challenge and keen to learn.
