Pastor in Training

St Silas is a growing evangelical church in the heart of Glasgow's west end. We are committed to Christ-centred, bible-based ministry, and to making Jesus known in Glasgow. We are seeking the right candidate to join our team from September 2025.

Responsibilities

- You spend 2 days of the working week each week in paid employment at St Silas Church, plus Sundays. - You work as part of the staff team, sharing in the work of pastoral ministry with them as well as experiencing them model this ministry. - You will have leadership of ministry areas to develop in experience and leadership. These will be flexible, depending upon your gifts and experience. - You will have a discipleship mentor, overseeing your growth in discipleship as much as the development of ministry gifts. - You will also study theology at an agreed institution, on an agreed training programme, such as the Pastors' Training Course at Cornhill Scotland, Edinburgh Theological Seminary or Crosslands. You will study systematic theology and pastoral theology, exploring the depths of biblical doctrine and how it applies in practical ministry areas.

Required skills

We are looking for: - Christians with a mature faith, a good knowledge of the Bible and Christian truth, and the ability to teach the Bible clearly. - Godliness and integrity in seeking to apply the teaching of the Bible in your personal life and commitment to prayer both personally and with others. - The person appointed will have significant experience relevant to the post. Normally, this will include having completed the Cornhill Training Course or equivalent.
