Carrubbers Christian Centre is an independent evangelical church in the heart of the historic city of Edinburgh. We are seeking a staff member to help us run and develop our sizeable ministry to children and families.

Responsibilities

- Work with Ministry Leaders and our Pastoral Team to meet the objectives of the role. - Build and develop relationships with Ministry Leaders and volunteer team members. - Involvement in teaching children and young people including, but not limited to, children's talks, family services, regular ministries, and weekends away. - Regularly communicating with parents, including directing to appropriate resources, helping to integrate new families into church life and coordinating pastoral support for families in need. - Being an active member of the staff team, including attendance at weekly team meetings. - Undertake safeguarding training and contribute to developing new procedures and policies as appropriate. - Awareness of annual expenditure and budgets of all ministries under the remit of the role. - Building and develop relationships with other churches and Christian organisations, in relation to work with children, young people and their families. - Identify opportunities to develop outreach to children and families.

Required skills

- An active and committed Christian faith, which fully agrees with the Carrubbers Statement of Faith. - Bible handling skills and experience. - Minimum of two years continuous experience in a hands-on role in either children's or youth ministry within a local church setting. - Experience of leading a team. - Good IT skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Flexibility, effective team player, excellent time management skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. - Eligibility to live and work in the UK.

Other

Other desirable skills - Formal theological qualification or training. - Experience of leadership in two or more roles in either children's or youth ministries within a local church setting. - Experience of working children or young people with additional support needs. - knowledge and skills in a number of different relevant IT programmes or software. - Knowledge and understanding of Scottish safeguarding legislation and procedures. - Awareness of cross-cultural sensitivities.
