Our Assistant Minister will be responsible for growing and equipping our church family, primarily through the ministry of teaching God's Word. They will also be expected to help develop our children's, youth and families' ministry.
- Equipping adults of all ages to grow as disciples of Jesus through leading Bible studies and growing new leaders - Putting prayer at the heart of ministry life, including joining weekly prayer gatherings and occasionally leading prayer gatherings - Being active in evangelism in the parish and equipping church members in evangelism - Developing a ministry of preaching and leading church services - Helping to develop our children's, youth and families' ministry - To be primarily based at St Mary's Balderstone and also working in partnership with Christ Church & St Saviour's Chadderton
- Ready to take significant leadership responsibility in church life - Committed to making disciple-making disciples of Jesus Christ - Evidence of gifting for pastoral ministry, including preaching - An ability to engage and communicate effectively with children, teenagers and young adults - A warm-hearted, humble, collaborative servant-leader - A diligent and well-organised worker who can manage his own workload - An ability and enthusiasm for working with people from a diverse range of cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds - An ability to use social media to communicate and promote ministry initiatives
- The post-holder must be able to subscribe to the Church of England Evangelical Council Basis of Faith (including additional declarations) ceec.info/basis-of-faith - They must also be able to work alongside and encourage men and women in various ministries and to be in sympathy with our church's position on the distinctive nature of men's and women's ministry in the church (Please note that the PCC of this parish has passed a resolution under the House of Bishops' Declaration on the Ministry of Bishops and Priests in order to reflect its convictions on the distinctive ministry of men and women.) - There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for this post to be occupied by an evangelical Christian man - The post is subject to an enhanced DBS with Barred list checked (Children & Adult Workforce).
