Church and HR Administrator (12 months maternity cover)

We have a vacancy for this maternity cover which commences August/September 2022. The successful applicant will be responsible for administration support, PCC Secretary responsibilities, providing HR, events management and Vicar PA duties.

Responsibilities

Would suit a Christian believer with previous HR and/or administration experience. 1. Act as PA to the Vicar and Associate Vicar including correspondence, diary, admin tasks, weddings, baptisms, funerals and confirmations. 2. Human Resource Administration in support of the HR Committee Chair, including overseeing payroll (including upkeep of sickness and overtime hours), keeping the staff handbook updated following any changes to policy or legislation, initiating new contracts and trainee agreements, keeping staff records and HR filing up to date on the shared drive ensuring anniversary dates for reviews of key documents are followed up e.g. update of job descriptions, policies etc. Manage the pensions' auto-enrolment record keeping and compliance. Assist with staff communications. 3. Participate and contribute to service planning meetings and ensure that the service programme is produced and all participants informed and prepared for their role in the service. Co-ordinate the prayer and reading rotas for Church services and mid-week meetings. 4. Participate in staff prayer meetings and promote the beliefs of St John's in dealings with enquirers, church members, diocesan bodies and external authorities. 5. PCC-APCM: Attending PCC meetings as PCC Secretary and writing up minutes, liaising with Chairman to ensure all documentation is prepared and distributed for PCC meetings, annual church meetings and PCC sub-committees. Follow up action points with action parties prior to the deadline for delivery. 6. Pro-actively support and facilitate the welcoming and integration of newcomers & enquirers, networking as appropriate with staff members, ministry heads and church members to ensure this takes place effectively. 7. Communications. Support the Operations Manager, PCC and Staff Team in communications with the church family and local community, making use of social media, videos, newsletters and other media and ensure complete harmony with the conservative evangelical doctrinal ethos and beliefs of the church. Liaising with staff and bringing together notices etc. for Church Family News and producing final copy, printing ready for Sunday. 8. Events co-ordination, working closely with Operations Manager, such as Evangelistic speakers, Jazz Nights, Church weekend, Women's weekend, and Keswick/ Bible by the Beach. 9. DBS administration. Support the Parish Safeguarding Officer to ensure swift operation in obtaining applicant information and references.

Other

Salary is in the range £20,000 to £25,000 p.a. depending upon experience. The fixed term contract role is for 5 days a week, although 4 days may be considered. We are a church family of 430 (350 adults) and offer a warm welcome to those who want to join us on Sundays and mid-week.
