St Thomas' Church, Edinburgh, invites applications for this important part-time post (18 hours per week) of Chaplain to Older People.

Responsibilities

The post holder will seek to share the Gospel with and provide a chaplaincy service to older people, whether or not they are associated with St Thomas' or any other church. To that end, they will be proactive in making contact and building relationships with older people (whether they live in their own homes or in residential care); they will develop and lead services of worship; they will identify, mentor and coordinate volunteers to assist in their work; and they will work with other agencies as appropriate. This post-holder will be a member of the staff team of St Thomas' Church and will meet with the senior pastor at least twice a month and with the staff team every fortnight. It is an occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian under part 1 of Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.  This means that you have a personal faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and that you believe the Bible to be trustworthy and the highest authority for faith and life. After interview, appointment will be subject to satisfactory references, Disclosure Scotland PVG clearance for work with vulnerable adults and evidence of full COVID 19 vaccination status (unless exempt).
