Responsibilities

- To be the leader of the team ministry at Rayners Lane Baptist Church leading the church by working with the Associate Pastor, the Children and Families Ministry Lead, other ministry workers and the Deacons as they head up specific areas of the church's activities. - To encourage the growth of whole life disciples of Jesus inspired by the life and ministry of the church family and specifically through times of gathered worship, fellowship, prayer and teaching. - To develop further ways of proclaiming the gospel in word and deed in the life of the church family and to offer regular opportunities for people to explore faith in Jesus, to become Christians and to grow as disciples. - To model and encourage pastoral care and friendship within the fellowship and develop the pastoral care team, guiding the pastoral care deacon in their ministry and ensuring good safeguarding practice. - To uphold our mission partners around the world and to learn from them so that we can be more effective witnesses in our multi-cultural context.

Required skills

We are looking for someone who: is a mature Christian, experienced in ministry and able to provide expository preaching in a way that is relevant to different cultures, bringing practical application to contemporary issues. They will be committed to personal growth in godliness with a disciplined life of prayer, worship, Bible reading and wider Christian reading. demonstrates an ability to encourage intercultural integration within the church family and with the local community. understands how children, youth and family ministries thrive within the wider church family. will oversee the pastoral care deacon and team encouraging pastoral visiting and developing the pastoral care structure within the fellowship. can help us build on the foundations of evangelism and social action already in place. has a collaborative style of ministry to enable them to lead our staff team enabling each member of the team to realise his or her full potential. will encourage, inspire and equip church members to use and develop their God-given gifts both inside and outside the church. is able to help the fellowship seek God's leading and discern His mind for the life and witness of the church family. This will involve developing the church members' meeting as a place to discover His leading and celebrating the unity that comes as we submit our wills to His good and perfect will.

Other

The Senior Pastor will: 1.Have relevant and appropriate theological training and/or experience. (It is desirable to hold a degree or masters qualification) 2.Be a BUGB accredited minister (desirable) experienced in pastoring a church. 3.Be organisationally, administratively and IT-able. 4.Be familiar with safeguarding practices and able to undertake and oversee ministry in full compliance with RLBC safeguarding policy and procedures. 5.Hold a full UK driving licence (desirable). 6.Have no reason for being disqualified from being a charity trustee.
