Join ASLAN as a Shelter Relief Coordinator, supporting people experiencing homelessness in Westminster. Work alongside volunteers and partners to provide a safe, welcoming overnight shelter and help guests access services and pathways to stable housing.
- Assist the Shelter manager to organise and coordinate the operational delivery of the shelter. - Be present and visible at all venues for daily shifts with the shelter manager and other Relief Coordinator(s). - Ensure the shelter is run effectively at all times and that any issues or problems are dealt with effectively and calmly in a peaceful and conflict-free environment. - Manage each shift's team of volunteers, ensuring safety of guests and volunteers at all times. - Induct new volunteers and guests into the shelter setting. - Work with referring agencies, shelter teams and guests to ensure that the shelter meets the needs of its guests and treats guests and volunteers fairly and consistently. - Collect relevant data and manage safeguarding concerns. - Work collaboratively and cooperatively with venue volunteer coordinators. - Relate to shelter guests with the utmost respect and tolerance, seeking to build their self-confidence and self-worth and improve their quality of life.
Essential - Experience and understanding of working with those who are homeless and other vulnerable adults - Proven interpersonal skills, including an ability to motivate and encourage people - Experience of safeguarding, understanding of data protection and ability to handle sensitive personal information - Proven administrative skills, including good written and oral communication, and good computer literacy - Ability to take initiative and work unsupervised - Whole life disciple wanting to know Christ more and grow in grace, obedience and -Christ-likeness themselves - Having a servant heart and seeking to live a life of Christian integrity - Resilient, with an ability to handle pressured situations with calm, tact and wisdom - Committed to self care and pursuing a healthy work-life rhythm - A flexible team player Desirable - Christian ministry leadership experience - University graduate or equivalent - Experience of working with professional organisations in the field of homelessness - Lived experience of homelessness - Lives within London (in one of its 32 local authorities or in the City of London)
Wage: £17.01 per hour (plus 12.07 holiday pay) Location: All Souls Clubhouse, 141 Cleveland Street, London, W1T 6QG, and other faith-based Communal Setting locations in Westminster and Camden Hours: Guaranteed minimum 7 hours per week (Requires regular early morning and evening shifts (likely to be 7.15-9.15am and 6.15pm to 9.45pm), including at weekends and over the Christmas and Easter periods.)
