A Primary Schools Worker (starting September 2026) with a passion for presenting the Christian faith in a school setting faithfully, engagingly and relevantly as well as for building supportive relationships with teachers, schools and churches.
To work in close co-operation with local churches, head teachers and teaching staff in order to teach and role model to children the central message of the Christian faith, supporting schools as they deliver their RE curriculum. This will include taking assemblies and lessons as well as establishing and running Bible Clubs and large events at Christmas and Easter. Plan, prepare and deliver high quality assemblies and high quality lessons in Foundation Stage, KS1 & 2, supporting the teaching of the agreed syllabus. Plan, prepare and run lunchtime and after schools Bible Clubs. Oversee the work of volunteers in the Bible Clubs. Provide teaching material to use, arrange prayer meetings, support, advise and train as necessary. Plan and deliver 'one-off events' for children (e.g. Christmas and Easter) in partnership with local churches. Look for ways to actively partner with our local churches and schools and so grow the work. Work closely with other colleagues should the team expand. Work in partnership with the Insight team in Kingston and maintain strong relationships. Keep in good contact with supporters and prayers. Visit as many of the Richmond partnering churches as possible annually and liaise with their church leaders and Insight Reps.
A committed Christian able to demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to our Statement of Faith. A sound understanding of the teachings of the Bible and able to communicate the Christian faith to primary school age children. Qualified Teacher Status (Primary) ideally and/or extensive experience in working with primary school age children in a Christian context. Experience and/or understanding of Christian work with children in a school environment.
