The role is preaching expository sermons once or twice a month and pastoral, evangelistic and relational 1-1 ministry, especially with newcomers. Small group work could be with young adults, ARU students, internationals or preschool families, depending on your experience & gifts. St Matthew's Cambridge is a warm church family of about 200 with a good spread of ages and stages. We're led by a conservative evangelical team under the oversight of a complementarian Bishop. Our vicar, Frank Price, led a "church graft" here from St Andrew the Great and our associate vicar is now leading a similar project to Peterborough. We have a children/women's worker, a youth worker and an administrator.
We're seeking: - a whole-hearted follower of Jesus; - about 2-6 years' experience of church ministry; - evidence of faithful, engaging, expository Bible preaching; - gifted at making connections and building friendships with new people quickly; - available to start 1st September 2026 and likely to stay for at least two years, God willing; - sharing our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of young or vulnerable people; - good references and background checks, eligible to work in the UK.
We're offering: - pay matching unqualified teachers (£25k-£35k, depending on experience/training); - pension, house-moving and training costs; - 3 bed house next to the church building (not suitable for a large family); - staff team with daily and weekly meetings for support and training.
