We are looking for someone with a passion for discipleship among the church families who will also champion and organise our evangelistic children's ministry in the community.
- Organise and lead a weekly club for primary school children in the community, - Organise and support 2 outreach events (eg holiday club, activity day) each academic year for children in the community during school holidays - Plan and lead the programme for the established Baby and Toddler group, supporting the existing team - Develop current relationships with two local schools (Abbeyhill and Leith Walk primaries) seeking ways to work together to support and encourage children - To support the existing Sunday Club team by developing a comprehensive curriculum to teach basic doctrine and Biblical literacy to children, sourcing suitable material for the team to use. - To recommend resources suitable for parents to disciple children and youth at home - To plan and organise an annual half-day conference in the church to encourage and train parents to disciple children and youth - To organise a team to run regular events for teenagers in the church - To encourage children and youth in the congregation to engage with summer camp experiences - To stay connected with children and youth ministries locally and nationally (for example SU, Young Life, Word of Life and others in Edinburgh) - Attend regular leadership team meetings, communicating with the relevant team members. - Adhere to HC's safeguarding policy and ensure all volunteers are up to date and following procedures.
Practising Christian, prepared to attend HC regularly and adhere to the Church's Statement of Faith A passion for children's care and discipleship Willingness to participate fully in church life Experience of working with children and youth, as part of a team in Christian or secular context Experience of following safeguarding procedures and practices Proactive and organised, able to work as part of a team as well as independently A good listener, able to engage with a diverse community Ability to engage and motivate others to get involved with ministry, and manage volunteers
