Emmanuel is in a season of exciting momentum. In the last year, our Young Adult community has grown from the ground up to a thriving group of over a dozen people. Simultaneously, God has opened significant doors in our local schools.
Youth Ministry Develop the vision for Emmanuel's youth ministry Lead and grow Sunday youth groups, planning teaching content and discipleship pathways. Build strong pastoral relationships with young people, encouraging their spiritual and personal growth. Plan and run midweek youth groups, discipleship groups, and social events. Organise and lead youth trips including the annual weekend away and festivals such as Satellites. Develop new missional initiatives to engage young people beyond the church. Recruit, train, and encourage a volunteer youth team, ensuring they are well supported and equipped. Ensure all youth ministry activity follows Emmanuel's safeguarding policies. Support youth involvement in wider church activities such as Holiday Club. School Missions & Outreach Develop and deepen our active partnerships with Lipson Cooperative Academy and Plymouth College through assemblies, CUs, and lunchtime groups. Develop new missional initiatives to engage young people beyond the church. Support young people in the transition from primary to secondary school. Young Adult & Student Ministry Lead and multiply our Young Adult home groups, building on recent growth. Own the "Welcome & Discipleship" pathway for students, particularly during the September intake. Create "naturally supernatural" environments where 18–30s can explore their spiritual gifts. Team Collaboration Collaborate with the wider staff team on church-wide projects and events. Actively participate in weekly staff investment sessions, contributing to the prayerful shaping of Emmanuel's mission. Work alongside the Parish Safeguarding Officer to maintain best practice in safeguarding.
Person Specification Faith: A living, personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to Emmanuel's values. Experience: Proven experience in Christian youth ministry and leading volunteer teams. Character: Humility, resilience, and a commitment to servant leadership. Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills; familiarity with Planning Center and Google Suite is a plus but not required. Requirements Church Involvement: Active membership and regular participation at Emmanuel Church. Occupational Requirement: There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder be a practicing Christian (Equality Act 2010). Legal: Subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and Right to Work in the UK.
