We are looking for a children's worker to work alongside our Children's and Youth Coordinator. Hours can be negotiated

Responsibilities

Seek to make and grow young disciples of the Lord Jesus within the church family (mainly with under 11s). o Teaching across the various Sunday morning groups in a clear and engaging way. o Developing the Sunday morning ministry to allow young people to grow in knowledge and understanding of God. o Helping to equip young people to share their faith with others. o Equip, develop, support, and care for those leading across the children's work. o Plan, alongside the teams, the spiritual programme and where necessary, resource or write teaching materials. o Attend team meetings. o To work closely with the children's and youth coordinator, wider staff team, and point leaders to ensure effective communication, coordination, and continuity of ministry with 0-18s and their families. o Reach out to children outside the church with the good news of Jesus and seek to make young disciples, particularly within our local community. o Take a lead with KidsZone (our community after-school group). o Take a lead on Super Saturday, our evangelistic day event for those in KS2, lead the team and plan the day. o Schools work – work alongside others to plan and run the Christmas school event and look to develop the schools work further.

Required skills

There is an occupational requirement to be a Christian, in accordance with the doctrine of the Anglican Mission in England (AMiE) as described in Article 4 of the Constitution and Canons of AMiE. A desire to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3.18) through prayer, Bible study and fellowship. Commitment to St Joseph's as a body of faithful Christians desiring to know God better and minister to the spiritual needs of the West End of Newcastle and beyond An ability to consult with and be responsible to the Senior Minister, Associate Minister and Children's & Youth Coordinator over the work of the church. An ability to relate well to, and to coordinate work with, the other members of staff, lay ministry leaders and parents; A sensitivity to the needs of both the congregation and those outside; A desire to be a member of the St Joseph's Church family; A flexibility and willingness to be involved with different areas of the church's ministry as appropriate.
