We are looking for someone who is committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ amongst young people in an exciting, urban and culturally diverse area of Greater Manchester.

Responsibilities

- Developing the children's and youth ministry across the parish, including amongst families not yet involved with church - Building on our excellent connections with local schools to share the message of Jesus with young people of all backgrounds - Developing new leaders in children's and youth work - Facilitating involvement at Christian youth camps - Working with the current team of volunteers to develop Sunday children's & young people's ministry. - Helping parents and guardians to disciple their children well. - Working within a robust safeguarding framework.

Required skills

1) A Christian, committed to developing his or her faith through regular prayer, Bible reading and church attendance 2) Committed to making disciples of Jesus Christ 3) An ability to engage and communicate effectively with children and young people 4) An ability to explain the gospel to children, young people and parents 5) An ability and enthusiasm for working with people from a diverse range of cultural, socio-economic and educational backgrounds 6) Willing to subscribe to the Church of England Evangelical Council Basis of Faith (including additional declarations) ceec.info/basis-of-faith 7) Able to work alongside and encourage men and women in various ministries and who will be in sympathy with our church's position that the church office of presbyter ('priest') is limited to men, in the light of Biblical teaching on the distinctive nature of men's and women's ministry in the church 8) A warm-hearted, humble, collaborative servant-leader 9) A diligent and well-organised worker 10) An ability to use social media to communicate and promote ministry initiatives 11) Formal ministry training (such as Gospel Partnerships Ministry Training Course, Cornhill Training Course, Youth or Children's Ministry Qualification and/or a theological qualification) 12) There is a Genuine Occupational Requirement for this post to be occupied by an evangelical Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. 13) This post is subject to the Diocese of Manchester's Safer Recruitment process which includes an enhanced DBS with Barred List

Christ Church and St Saviour's Chadderton are lively evangelical Anglican churches in Oldham, Greater Manchester, with diverse and growing congregations, reaching around 150 in attendance on Sundays, including approximately 40 children and young people (0-18 years). We are seeking someone to join the staff team as a full time Youth and Children's Worker, initially as a three years fixed term post. The overall purpose of the role is to further develop the children's and youth ministry across the parish in new and creative ways, including reaching more young people outside of church with the gospel of Jesus. The role will involve developing existing and new volunteers, to increase capacity to reach more young people and families with the good news of Jesus.
