Co-Pastor / Minister

Full-time £29800 / year
Includes housing

Hope Church Goldthorpe (S63 9GW)

Date posted: 16th February 2025
Application ends: 30th April 2025

We seek a humble, prayerful man who loves the Lord with godly character and Bible teaching gifts to join our eldership team for an initial 2-year fixed-term, hopefully with scope to extend long-term.

Responsibilities

Together with the church family, the co-pastor would belong to Hope Church and serve the Lord and his flock with the particular gifts he has been given. There is role flexibility within this, given the plural eldership and leadership team. The co-pastor would be committed to prayer, pastoral care, expository preaching, regularly leading Sunday gatherings, one-to-one Bible studies, contextualised evangelism and Christ-like discipling of all believers - old and young, male and female. We expect he would join a life group and in time lead one. We would love him to seek and develop new ways to reach out to those in need of Jesus in our community. We believe there are enough gospel opportunities for the role to be full-time, but we would consider less than full-time hours depending on the co-pastor's personal situation.

Required skills

We are seeking a co-pastor with the following qualities: - is a child of the Father, a forgiven sinner who has been saved by Jesus and is growing in the habit of repentance and holiness with the Spirit's help; - has a humble heart that loves Jesus and under him, can shepherd the Lord's people with wisdom, gentleness and care; - is committed to a local church family, to personal prayer and Bible reading; - has undertaken theological training and has leadership experience, anglican ordination is helpful but not required; - is a man characterised by the Lord's requirements for an elder in Titus 1:6-9 and 1 Timothy 3; - is happy to serve the church vision as outlined in our vision document, CIO constitution and church rules which we can share with those interested; - can grow a love for Goldthorpe and our particular area and has the desire and ability to share the good news of the Lord Jesus with those who don't know him in our ex-mining context; - has experience and spiritual gifting in preaching and teaching the Bible faithfully and clearly; - is a team player who will enjoy being part of a plural eldership team and able to help every member ministry; - is able to manage flexible working hours and roles, has strong interpersonal skills and is trustworthy and reliable.

Other

Planted in 2020 with a small team of 10 adults and 10 children from two South Yorkshire evangelical CofE churches, the Lord has grown Hope Church to about 50 members from all sorts of backgrounds. We joined the Anglican Mission in England (AMiE) network in 2021 and became a CIO in Feb 2024. Ordination helpful, not required. You can expect a loving, warm welcome, a team of fellow workers and regular encouragement and prayer from a united church family who love faithful Bible teaching. Remuneration: salary of £29,800 (depending upon experience), pension, expenses and housing or allowance (to be arranged).
