Youth & Children's Ministry Lead

Full-time £24000 / year

Hamilton Baptist Church (ML36QL)

Date posted: 8th October 2024
Application ends: 1st December 2024

We're prayerfully seeking someone to serve with our already passionate youth and children team. Someone who loves the Lord and His gospel and wants to give their life to making Him known among young people within and beyond our church family.

Responsibilities

Our young people and children are very precious to us in HBC. We pray and work to see them come to know the Lord Jesus and grow strong and sure in their walk with Him. Making the Word of God fully known in their young lives is central to this and we work hard to help them grasp, love and live out the gospel. We are therefore prayerfully seeking someone to serve with our already passionate teams to nurture and grow our children and young people where they continue in their faith. This role would be suited to someone who loves the Lord and His gospel and wants to give their life to making Him known from His Word the Bible, among young people within and beyond the church family. Opportunities within include working alongside a growing group of Young Adults, Youth Fellowship and Bible Class; thriving Crèche, Sunday School, Girls' and Boys' Brigades; and Messy Church, which regularly draws more than 50 families monthly from September to June. The ideal person for this role would have broad responsibilities and oversight across all of these ministries. Beyond the church family, we've been praying consecutively for schools in Hamilton, and seeking to discover opportunities to build gospel relationships with staff and pupils. We also want to build relationships with the families whose children and young people attend our programmes. We would love to see you effectively handle the Bible with children and young people, and help train others to do so. We also need someone who would seek to shepherd and encourage our existing teams from the Word; caring and praying for them. Our existing teams are wholeheartedly committed to loving and serving our young people, so this role would work as a coordinator and developer of existing ministries and new opportunities. If you believe that the power to change lives is in the Word of God and want to help us get the gospel out clear and far alongside a supportive team, being accountable to our elders and loved as part of the church family, then read on and pray more.

Required skills

Faith: A saving, loving and deepening relationship with the Lord Jesus. Bible: The twin convictions that the Bible is the Word of God and the gospel of Jesus is the power of God for salvation, that result in effective Bible handling with youth and children. Leadership: Skills to coordinate and develop existing youth and children's ministries, to care for and encourage the existing team as well as helping us explore and maximise new opportunities. Interpersonal Skills: a godly character, a servant heart, the ability to relate well to children and young people and their parents/carers, and to be discreet with confidential information. A shepherd's heart: that looks to the Lord as the source of all you need for the task of leading others to know and love Him better. Teamwork: you won't be on your own, so you'll need the ability to collaborate effectively with a passionate team, receiving as well as giving help and encouragement.

Other

If HBC was to steal a strapline from Paul's ministry summary in Colossians 1:25-28, it could be - making the Word of God fully known and the people of God fully mature. As a church family, we love both the outward and inward facing aspects of this. Inwardly, we want to see joyful spiritual maturity among the Lord's people. Outwardly, the Lord Jesus is not even vaguely known in Hamilton, but we long to make Him fully known among those who have no hope without Him. EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years+ experience working for a school or a church related ministry with teenagers and/or children.
