This is an exciting opportunity to develop the strong relationship between the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lee and Trinity All Through School, Lewisham. The role involves creating a new 'worshipping community' in the school.

Responsibilities

Salary: £15,000 Hours: 24 hours per week, term time only, for 2 years (to include 2 hours on a Sunday evening, week day hours are negotiable) Are you passionate about working with young people to enable them to develop a deep rooted faith that will sustain them through the challenges of growing up? Would you like to reach out to young people outside the church, in a way that is sensitive to their needs and concerns? Are you keen to innovate and find new ways for people to explore the Christian faith in the context of their school? If so, we would love you to become part of our church community and school community! This is an exciting opportunity to develop the strong relationship between the Church of the Good Shepherd, Lee and Trinity All Through School, Lewisham – which is in the parish. The role involves creating a new 'worshipping community' in the school, that is invitational and intergenerational, with young people as co-creators. This will mean setting up small groups – outside of lesson time – for people to meet together to learn and grow in faith. It will also involve supporting the existing youth ministry at the church, and finding ways to strengthen the links between school and church. This is a perfect role for someone who enjoys starting projects, innovating, working creatively, and following the lead of the Holy Spirit.

Required skills

- Experience in working with young people, community building or school liaison work. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in all media with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong organisational and administrative skills, and experience of initiating a programme or project. - Experience of motivating, supporting and coordinating volunteers and/or paid workers. - Strong understanding of a variety of Christian worship practices. - Technological competency in the use of everyday computer programmes such as Word and Excel.
