Ministry trainee

Killicomaine Evangelical Church (BT63 5NL)

Date posted: 11th June 2024
Application ends: 2nd September 2024

Are you hoping to do the Cornhill Belfast training course? Are you looking to complement your classroom training at Cornhill with ministry experience in a local church context?

Responsibilities

KEC (Killicomaine Evangelical Church) is committed to training people for gospel ministry, and is seeking a Cornhill Belfast intern to whom they can offer practical ministry experience. The role includes: - Preaching on Sundays, with frequency depending on your experience and capacity. - Contributing to our children and youth clubs, and small groups. - Reading the Bible one-to-one (with church members and with people exploring the Christian faith).

Required skills

Candidate Profile: - Has been accepted into or is applying to the Cornhill Belfast training course. - Passionate about teaching God's word to the church and proclaiming the gospel to unbelievers. - Committed to living a godly life (as described, for example, in 1 Timothy 3 and 1 Peter 5). - Respectful of KEC's reformed baptist tradition, even though we very much welcome applicants from other denominational backgrounds. - Motivated by a desire to equip yourself for lifelong gospel ministry. - Because of our understanding of male and female roles in the church as described in the Bible, we are looking for a man to fulfil this role as it will involve preaching (as stated above).

Other

Support: We will provide a living allowance, to help cover accommodation, travel, and household bills. Other info: The internship is initially a one-year programme, with the possibility of extending for a second year, subject to a successful review of the intern's performance during their first year. This review will be conducted to ensure that the intern's contributions and development align with the church's mission and the internship's objectives. In a typical week, the intern will be expected to be at Cornhill for 2.5 days (two days of classes and half a day of studying), have a day off (Saturday) and spend the rest of the time (3.5 days) doing church-related activities/ministry. The position involves interaction with children and/or vulnerable adults and is subject to Access NI checks.
