We are looking for a woman who is spiritually mature, who will join our church family, who is eager to grow as a disciple of Jesus and eager to see people rescued and transformed by Jesus, someone who will use her gifts to serve Jesus and His people.

Responsibilities

- Overseeing and actively joining in with the church's existing ministries to women - Coordinating the women's breakfasts, where the key objective is to encourage women to grow in knowledge and love of the Lord and to share their faith with others - Encouraging women to identify, develop and use their gifts for ministry and mission - Leading, or assisting in leading, a women's growth group in studying the Bible - Seeking to get alongside the women in our toddlers groups - Overseeing and supporting one-to-one discipleship for women in the church - Attending staff meetings and ensuring that a woman's perspective is heard - Attending regular church events such as the Sunday services, monthly prayer meetings, away days etc - Undertaking some practical and administrative tasks to contribute to the smooth running of the church

Required skills

Essential qualifications: - A love for God's word and confidence that God uses His word to do His work in His world - A Christ-like love for people with a humble desire to serve and disciple them - Previous experience in Christian ministry and teaching the Bible to women (paid or unpaid, in formal or informal contexts) - An understanding of safeguarding issues and a willingness to undergo appropriate safeguarding training Desirable qualifications: - Formal training in ministry, e.g. the Cornhill Training Course or similar

There is flexibility for the right candidate to develop the precise role in accordance with their gifts and experience. All our staff must be able to represent the mission and values of Christ Church in all aspects of the role and there is therefore an occupational requirement for the job holder to be a committed evangelical Christian. We envisage the role being initially a 3 year appointment (with 6 months' probation), with the possibility of extension. The role will involve some evening and weekend work. Annual leave is 18 days per year, with time off in lieu where applicable. The appointment is subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check in line with our safer recruitment policies. It is hoped that the applicant will be able to start by summer 2024. We are aiming to appoint the right candidate as soon as possible, so early application is encouraged.
