Grace Church Cowley was planted from St Ebbe's Central and St Ebbe's Headington churches in 2019. This role is working alongside the Minister of Grace Church in pastoring, and with a view to reaching people in housing estate areas outside the ring road.
Ministry - Accountable to the Minister, assisting in all aspects of pastoring Grace Church and all age-groups. - Preaching and leading at Sunday gatherings regularly at Grace Church. - Leading in prayer and modelling a reliance on the Lord. - Assisting in the training and care of our Missional Communities (small groups) and leading/supporting our Blackbird Leys Missional Community. - Supporting and training individuals through one-to-one discipleship, mentoring and pastoral care. Mission - Working with the Minister to enable the church family to share Jesus with others and modeling a heart for mission - Beginning to form the nucleus of a core team of people with a heart for areas outside the ring road and praying together to reach people there. - Beginning to explore ways to reach people outside the ring road with the good news of Jesus. - Gradually moving towards some kind of regular gatherings outside the ring road over time, at a pace that seems appropriate and is not rushed. - Praying towards planting or grafting or leading a church outside the ring road the future. Young People - Involvement in the oversight and development of our ministry to children and young people. - Getting involved in schools work in Cowley, and over time outside the ring road . - Jointly liaising with our Safeguarding Officer to ensure that all safeguarding policies are followed in respect of our young people. Other - Contributing to other areas of ministry as required. - Pursuing agreed ministry-related training and development, along with mentoring and support from the Minister. - Attending staff meetings and prayer meetings as required. - Awareness of and commitment to implementing Church of England, St Ebbe's and Grace Church policies and practices on safeguarding.
- A passionate faith in the Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. - A love for God's word and confidence that God uses his word to do his work in His world. - A Christ-like love for people with a humble desire to serve and disciple them. - A passion for and ability in enabling people to reach the lost in Cowley and, especially, outside the ring road. - An ability to envision others and inspire a heart for lost people. - A gift for teaching and training others through God's word, faithfully and effectively, with grace, wisdom and empathy. - A transparent godliness in line with the Bible and a prayerful dependence on Christ. - Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. - Highly organised, with the ability to both take initiative and work well in a team. - Formal qualifications of theological college training or undergoing part-time theological training. - Agreeing with the St Ebbe's statement of faith. - Agreeing with St Ebbe's views on the distinctive ministry of men and women.
- An ordained Anglican or an Ordinand. - Formal training and experience in Christian ministry or undergoing ongoing part-time ministry training. - A track record of missional work in any context and a heart for mission. - Experience of working specifically in a deprived area / a deep passion for this ministry. - A willingness to work across evangelical and other traditions of churches.
