We are seeking a servant-hearted individual to develop our established Bible-teaching ministry to under 11s and their families in our increasingly diverse London borough. Affordable accommodation available. Non-contributory pension (17.5% salary).
Leading the pastoral care of children and families at St George's through Sunday Club, and reading the Bible and praying with adults and small groups of children Supporting Christian parents to teach and nurture their children in Christian discipleship Leading the work of outreach to children and families in the locality through mid-week groups and an annual holiday club Leading the team working with children from 0-11, including training and supporting volunteers Developing existing relationships with local primary schools in order to reach children who may never come to church Partnering with the incumbent and others in general parish ministry
ESSENTIAL Christian believer, who strives to put Jesus first in their life Committed to their own personal discipleship and development in Christian ministry Belief in the Bible as God's written Word and committed to its central role in evangelism and discipleship In agreement with the position the PCC has taken as set out in our Summary Theological Position Statement, and be able to support the parish in the outworking of that position A heart for children and families, and a desire to see them coming to faith in Christ and growing in faith Training and experience in Word ministry – in particular teaching and applying the Bible to children Able to encourage and equip others to serve in children's ministry Capable of working independently and managing own workload (with supervision and support) A team player able to partner with other leaders in the church A willingness to serve as a member of the church family Good organisational and communication skills DESIRABLE Relates well to the full age range of children from toddlers to pre-teens Experience of ministry on a council estate or other urban setting Cross-cultural experience, or experience of ministry among people from diverse backgrounds Experience of helping children and families deal with the pressures of our digital age
