The exact nature of the role would be tailored to suit but would include - preaching, service leading, leadership experience alongside the minister and deacons, pastoral experience and meeting regularly with the minister. It also may include (amongst other things) developing the outreach of the church, work with children and young people, outreach to retired folk, training lay leaders, leading and writing home group studies.

Required skills

This would suit someone who - Is a Christian and fits the qualifications for eldership as laid down in 1 Tim 3 and Titus 1. - Is humble, hard working and teachable - Has ideally had some theological training - Who would like ministry experience serving alongside an experienced minister in an ordinary local church - Has theological convictions in line with the historic reformed expressions of Christianity. It is laid down in our trust deed that any minister must be a paedo-baptist (and this is taught and practiced in line with the understanding laid down in the Westminster confession of faith).
