Three North London Conservative Evangelical churches are planting a church in Ponders End, Enfield, and are seeking a male pastor to lead the church plant.

Responsibilities

The primary focus of this role is to prayerfully set a vision for a new church community in Ponders End and to work with partner churches to build community links and establish St Matthew's as a grace-filled, Bible teaching church reaching out to the community in Ponders End. Key responsibilities - Set and embed the vision and strategy for the church plant - Building relationships in the community and with local and partner churches, establish a core team to be part of a church plant - Be the lead Pastor responsible for spiritual and pastoral care within the church - Model evangelism by actively seeking to promote and spread the gospel in Ponders End - Regular Bible preaching and talks - Regular leading of worship on a Sunday and special religious occasions including funerals and weddings (where appropriate) - Work with the partner and local churches to continue to raise financial support for the plant - Recruitment and oversight of volunteers within the church to lead ministries - Practice hospitality and share meals in your home with church members - Developing church ministries and missional outreach to the local community - Oversight of operations including timings, location, social media etc. - Ensuring the diocesan safeguarding policy and procedures are complied with

Required skills

As conservative evangelical Anglican churches whose PCCs have passed resolutions under the House of Bishops' Declaration, we seek a man who can demonstrate that he is: - A humble, servant-hearted leader who lives with integrity in his daily life and who lets his biblical convictions lead their priorities and focus in ministry - A mature disciple of Jesus Christ, committed to continually growing in his relationship with God through the study of Scripture, prayer and a dependence on the Holy Spirit - An evangelical minister with excellent theological training (and ideally ordained in the Church of England) - An able evangelist, passionate about sharing the gospel of Christ - An imaginative initiator who is capable of independent action and inspiring others - A gifted and engaging teacher of God's word with experience of regular expository preaching - Church planting experience is desirable but not essential - Experience of ministry in a culturally diverse missional setting is desirable but not essential

The role is a full-time position working 6 days per week including some evening work.
