We are a gospel-hearted, caring, evangelical church in the Diocese of Sheffield. We are looking for a godly and dynamic 'people person', who is able to teach the Bible, has a passion for making Jesus known and enjoys building relationships.

Responsibilities

The ministry will include: 1) Leading our growing work with children, youth and young families, midweek and Sundays, 2) Growing our existing work with the local primary schools, including assemblies and after school clubs, 3) Encouraging and equipping volunteers from within the church family to support the work.

Required skills

A well-grounded disciple of Jesus with a mature Christian faith, rooted in the authority of the Bible. Able to present a strong Christian role model. Strong passion for mission and discipleship drawing from strength of own Christian faith. Good understanding of the Bible, how it applies to our lives, and how to communicate it to children, young people and young adults in an engaging, effective and non-judgemental manner, with a focus on growing disciples. First-hand experience of leading or coordinating activities for children, young people and young adults that are appropriate for the context. Experience of working within a team. Reflective practitioner, openness to constructive criticism and to learning from others. Able to relate effectively with a wide spectrum of people, both adults and young people. A clear understanding of children and young people and principles of children's and youth work. Excellent skills in direct work with young people. Literate in IT including use of social media and word processing. Good people and communication skills, appropriate for connecting with children, young people and young adults, interacting with the church family and reaching the community. Able to communicate effectively in person and in writing. Able to motivate self and others and to manage use of time. Able to work as part of a team. Able to initiate and develop projects. Able to enable young people to provide peer support. Working knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of children.
