We are a lively evangelical Anglican church in Buckhurst Hill on the North East London/Essex border. An early priority for this Youth Worker role will be to meet people and develop a strategy for leading and delivering a youth programme.

Responsibilities

- develop and implement a strategy for leading and delivering a youth programme - draw our youngsters into a cohesive group together - lead them individually to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ - teach them biblical discipleship - encourage them to expect great things from God and to attempt great things for God - help them draw their friends into the church - be involved in planning and taking part in All Age Services - build relationships with young people and their families - plan and structure the youth programme whether in church or on external courses/trips - follow all safeguarding policies

Required skills

- heart for and experience of working with young people, as a volunteer or paid, and preferably in a church setting - desire to see young people's faith develop - strong team player, able to work well with the rest of the team and with parents, volunteers, and other church members - a motivated and well-organised self-starter - enthusiastic about the potential of our young people and confident about promoting their interests within the church - effective and engaging communication skills - a practicing Christian whose beliefs and lifestyle are consistent with the teaching and ethos of St John's, an evangelical Anglican church - commitment to be a regular worshipper at St John's - an enhanced DBS check is required for this role
