We are an FIEC Church, located between Pollokshaws and Shawlands. We have active ministries which are already outward facing. What more could we be doing to reach the demographically mixed community around us with the gospel?

Responsibilities

CHURCH FACING 1.  Setting the overall church vision and strategy for evangelism, and enthusing the congregation. 2.  Creating a church evangelism plan each year. 3.  Helping church ministries think evangelistically. 4.  Considering, proposing and establishing new evangelistic opportunities. 5.  Training church members in evangelism. COMMUNITY FACING 6. Doing the work of an evangelist. 7. Being a link to the Pollokshaws/Shawlands Community. 8.  Concern for church visibility. 9.  Holiday Bible Club (overall organisation). There is an expectation that the Community Pastor will be appointed as a church elder within 12 months

Required skills

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES - A known track record of Christ-like character. - A compassionate heart for lost people and a desire to see them come to a knowledge of the truth. - An excellent grasp of the gospel and an ability to communicate it clearly in a 21st century context. - A biblical theology of evangelism, having a healthy understanding of areas like God's sovereignty, human responsibility and prayer, as these feed into our view of evangelism. - Strong people skills - including good conversational skills, an ability to handle conflict, understanding a range of people and personalities and how to relate to them. - Public speaking abilities - although preaching is not a central part of the role, the individual should be able to preach the gospel in a variety of contexts and communicate well in a public setting. - Organisational abilities in the planning of events. - Excellent self-discipline and being a self-starter. - A pastoral heart and a concern for believers as well as those outside the church family. DESIRABLE QUALITIES - Theological training at a reputable evangelical institution. - Evidence of being able to start new initiatives and having the boldness to step out in faith with new initiatives. - Willing to live within a reasonable distance of the church.

OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENTS There is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be male and a Christian in wholehearted agreement with Greenview Church's statement of faith, as well accepting FIEC's three ethos statements: Same Sex Marriage, Women In Ministry and Gospel Unity. Applications can only be considered from those who are UK citizens or who otherwise have a right to work in the UK. Our role involves some working with children or vulnerable adults. Applicants will be subjected to disclosure checks as part of our commitment to safeguarding.
