Youth Minister with responsibility for outreach and discipleship among 10-18 year olds in Lindfield and the surrounding community.

Responsibilities

- To be growing spiritually oneself and to be making the most of training and ministry development opportunities. - To bring prayer, vision, energy and leadership to the ministry among young people in All Saints and the local area. - To grow, train and lead a volunteer team to develop and deliver an engaging and relevant programme of Bible-based outreach and discipleship for young people at All Saints, helping them grow in their relationship with Jesus. - Through prayerful Bible-teaching and small group work, to equip young people to engage confidently and biblically with the questions of our culture, living for Christ and sharing the gospel. - To share in the development and running of our evening service (6pm), particularly targeted towards young people, including leading and preaching where appropriate. - To work with the wider team, to encourage, support and partner with the families of young people, ultimately to help prepare young people to keep following Jesus after their teenage years. - To share in leadership of All Age services and Holiday Clubs at All Saints. - In partnership with local churches, to lead in the May half-term 'Explore 814' camp and develop the ministry of summer camps among our young people. - To encourage young people to take an active part in church life and to articulate the views and concerns of young people and their families to the wider church. - To develop links with local schools, and in partnership with other churches, to encourage a Christian presence in them among children and young people (e.g. through assemblies, Christian Unions, RE lessons). - To ensure best practice is followed in regard to Safeguarding and Health & Safety. - Other tasks that may be required by the Vicar

Required skills

- A clear understanding of youth ministry and the challenges faced by young people in contemporary culture - Able to encourage, teach and inspire young people in Christ – while having fun! - Confident to take initiative, able to motivate self and others, and to manage use of time - IT literacy, including familiarity with social media - Working knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of young people - A good standard of English, and able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
