We are looking to appoint an Assistant Pastor for 3 to 5 years, to work alongside our existing Pastor, leadership team and volunteers. In particular, the role will involve leading our Youth Ministry.

Responsibilities

The person will share in preaching and leading services (with a significant weighting towards the evening service); discipleship and evangelism. We're keen to shape the role both around the person's gifts and experience, and the needs and opportunities of the fellowship. The role would preferably include leading a new group from aged 10+ on Sunday mornings. As we look to shape the role around the person's gifts and experience, there are opportunities which could involve: overseeing children's and families ministry; leading midweek youth and children's discipleship groups; student and international student ministry at Brunel University; discipleship and evangelism among our members, attenders, and the local community; leading the Sunday evening ministry; involvement in the training and oversight of any apprentices who might be appointed.

Required skills

Personal Profile We are looking for someone who in: · Character - has a personal, mature, growing faith in Jesus, who meets the biblical criteria for eldership seen in the pastoral epistles, and is growing in the fruit of the Spirit. Has a love for people, seen in the pastoring of Jesus' people, care for the needy, and a love for the lost · Convictions - shares our theology and approach to ministry, with a proven commitment to word ministry. Formal theological training is desirable (we welcome applicants currently in training), as is membership of the FIEC Pastors' Network (or being in the process of applying). You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis and agreement with the FIEC ethos statements. · Competence - is gifted in word ministry, with experience in a range of settings; is able to lead, equip and train others. · Chemistry - will fit well into the culture and ethos of WRC. · Capacity - is a self-starter, able to serve in a variety of ministries, in Uxbridge.

Waterloo Road Church is an independent evangelical church in Uxbridge, West London (affiliated to FIEC). To the glory of God, our vision is to know Jesus and make him known, as we reach out with the gospel, build up in the gospel, and send out with the gospel. The post holder will be an elder and a trustee and will have significant responsibility within the church. The start date is flexible, with September 2023 being preferred. Applications can only be considered from those who are UK citizens or who otherwise have a right to work in the UK. You will need to be able to declare wholehearted acceptance of the FIEC doctrinal basis and agreement with the FIEC ethos statements.
