Holy Trinity Church Eastbourne are seeking to appoint to the exciting and valued position of Director of Music. The post-holder will oversee and develop all elements of this creative ministry, and in turn assist in growing disciples of Jesus Christ.
The Director of Music will take responsibility for the careful choosing of hymns and songs, shaped by the preaching series' and respecting the importance of our varied cultures. The Director of Music will help us to praise and thank God for his grace towards us and respond with music to the joys and challenges we face in life.
Passion for God and his gospel. Humble character and willingness to learn. Clear understanding how God speaks today through Holy Scripture. Solid understanding of the role of music in corporate worship. Experience of leading sung worship in both solo, band and music group settings. Ability to sing and play a lead instrument to a high standard. Familiarity with different musical styles of sung worship, including contemporary, middle of the road, traditional, and popular hymns and songs. Ability to arrange songs for different instruments in the band/orchestral setting. Able Team Leader to work effectively with volunteers and the Ministry team. Good administrative and organisational skills. Read sheet music and scoring parts. Basic Knowledge and experience of setting up and running Audio/Visual technologies. Experience of training and pastoring a team. The ability to lead and train teams of others to grow the ministry of music in the church.
Desirable Criteria Ability to play a second instrument in a contemporary band setting. Advanced knowledge and experience of setting up and running Audio/Visual technologies. Working in or with a choir. Media production & social media management. Experience of website maintenance. Experience of leading services, teaching and expository preaching of the Bible. Some level of theological training and willingness to engage in more. We envisage that someone with the right willingness and sensitivities will be able to grow into the role.
